Historical crafts
The origin of Jianzhan
Jianzhan originated in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) in China, and was an important carrier of the “tea fighting” culture in the Song Dynasty, represented by the Jianyang region of Fujian.
Characteristics of traditional craftsmanship
Iron tire: The tire soil with high iron content is used, and the carcass is iron gray after firing
Tianmu glaze: The glaze contains iron oxide, which produces a kiln transformation effect at high temperatures
Reductive firing: By controlling the oxygen content in the kiln, the glaze produces a metallic luster
Rabbit Hair/Oil Droplets: Classic ornamentation includes rabbit hair (filamentous) and oil drop (speckled)
Modern heritage
On the basis of retaining traditional craftsmanship, contemporary craftsmen have developed more glaze variations in combination with modern aesthetics, giving new life to this ancient craft.
The tea cup you uploaded perfectly shows the deep beauty of Tianmu glaze, which is the perfect combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern life.
